Thank you for your interest in The Powder Room and congratulations on your big day! At The Powder Room we offer high quality, professional makeup services for weddings and events. Katrina is the owner and head artist who will be your point of contact for any questions! Below you will find FAQ’s. If there is something we missed, feel free to ask.
-What is Airbrush Makeup?
Airbrush makeup is a water resistant liquid that is sprayed with a mini air compressor as the foundation. The spray technique allows for adjustable coverage to either achieve a soft, natural, glowy coverage or a full, matte coverage. Airbrush is breathable and super light so either coverage you choose, it will not feel cakey or heavy. Traditional makeup lasts from 6-8 hours where airbrush makeup lasts 12-16+ and will not require touchups (if your skin is on the oilier side, then just a little bit of powder will be all you need).
-Do you have a portfolio, photos, or Instagram?
You can find photos on the website www.thepowderroommammoth.com, on Facebook at The Powder Room by Katrina Lantieri, and Instagram at thepowderroom_bykatrina
-How many services can you do?
We provide services for the bride and entire bridal party! A final head count of services will be taken thirty (30) days prior to your wedding date in order to secure an additional stylist(s) if needed. There is a minimum for all bookings of three services and/or $405.
-Can you come to us?
Yes! We do on location services. Travel/set up costs are included and is no extra cost.
-Makeup Pricing: how much?
3-4 Services $135 per face
5+ Services $125 per face
-Prices include airbrush makeup, false strip lashes, as well as travel and set up!
-The price is still the same if you opt out of airbrush, or if you decide you don’t need/want lashes.
-Minimum number of services/total cost required for booking is: three (3) and/or $405.
-18% gratuity will be added to invoices for parties of five (5) or more.
**Pricing is specific to The Powder Room only. If your services exceed what we can accommodate and you have to book a separate artist, you will be responsible to pay their pricing and to pay them separately.
-Do you do hair?
The Powder Room is a makeup focused salon but we do have a list of recommended vendors that we can refer you to!
-Can we do a Practice Run?
Trial Runs are not required but highly recommended. This allows us to meet and form a relationship, learn each other’s makeup styles, and get an idea for your day of look. Pricing for Trial Runs are $135. Trial Run appointments are only available during salon business hours. Weekends are unavailable. Special arrangements may be made on a case by case basis.
-How far in advance should I book a trial?
Being a destination for most brides, this can be a bit tricky. We recommend a few months before the wedding as styles and minds can change. But there are no rules! We have done “trials” as early as 9 months as they wanted to use their makeup for engagement photos and as late as the day before the wedding for the rehearsal dinner.
-How long does it take for day of makeup?
Typically we book 45 min per face. If you have any photos that will be taken before the wedding, we will need to know what time your photographer would like you ready and we will count backwards from there depending on how many services to get our starting time.
-How long will the makeup last?
If we are using the airbrush makeup there is no need to worry! Airbrush makeup is water resistant, sweat resistant, tear resistant and will last 12-16 hours. The longevity will vary depending on skin type... if the skin is normally on the dryer side, it may last a little longer vs oiler skin. Being in Mammoth where we have little to no humidity definitely works in our favor as well. With a bigger bridal party I always reassure the first bridesmaid/makeup that they do not need to worry about going first, the makeup will last! I also add a little extra time towards the end of the timeline for touchups. The one thing I recommend is to find/bring a lipstick to use. Lipstick is the one thing you definitely need to touch up, so it is a good idea to have one to keep with you!
-How do I book?
If you are interested in booking, we will email you a contract along with an electronic invoice for your non-refundable deposit. To secure your wedding date, your deposit is $135, which covers your (the brides) day of makeup service. Your wedding date is not secure until we have this payment.
-What is your payment/cancellation policy?
The Powder Room accepts all major credit cards on and off location. We also take checks made payable to The Powder Room and cash. We require the final service count no later than one month prior to the wedding/event date. Once we have the final head count secured, we will email you a final invoice and the total invoice amount is requested to be paid two weeks prior to the wedding/event date. This eliminates day of stress and we won’t have to chase you down the aisle :) As wedding/event vendors, we reserve the day entirely for you. This is a reservation, not an appointment. You are responsible for payment of the total invoice amount and number of booked services.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or are ready to book! Thank you!
